Special Olympics tops list of most trusted nonprofits

Special Olympics has been named the No. 4 Most Trusted Nonprofit in the Most Trusted Brands of 2022 report by decision intelligence company Morning Consult, after St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Make-A-Wish and the American Heart Association, respectively.

The report measured brand trust across industries, spotlighting the companies and products most trusted by consumers in 2022. For the first time, nonprofits were featured in a special “Trust in Nonprofits” category surveying consumer attitudes toward 50 nonprofits to identify the top 10 most trusted nonprofit brands. Out of these, Special Olympics emerged as the No. 4 Most Trusted Nonprofit Brand of 2022.

One of the report’s four key takeaways was that “nonprofits must do what they say and say what they do,” noting that nonprofits must “consistently deliver on what they promise.” The report stated that using resources effectively and having a positive impact on local communities are also vital ingredients for nonprofits to build trust.

“We are very grateful to Morning Consult for the recognition, as well as the research that went into this study,” said David Thomason, Special Olympics Virginia President. “We also are honored to be part of such a well-respected group of nonprofits. Each day, our goal is to shine a light on what’s possible for people with intellectual disabilities. We couldn’t do this without our dedicated fans and partners who trust us to do this important and vital work.”

Special Olympics also recently announced that the organization is a finalist in the 2022 Sharecare Awards in the “Disrupters of Health” category. Find out more and show your support for ending health disparities for people with intellectual disabilities by voting online here.
