Rounding Up Your Change - and Our Athletes - for Hardee's this Season

While the Hardee’s “round up” your purchase at checkout campaign continues in locations across the state, we took the chance to “round up” in another way this October. Joined by athletes Emily Bower, Chelsea Gaughran, James Tench, Roger & Angie Johnson, and coach, parent & Area 2 Virginia Beach Local Coordinator Marcus Leggett and his son Marcus, we literally “rounded up” our team and visited Hardee’s locations in Richmond, Virginia Beach and Southwest Virginia.

Athletes and staff took the time to thank employees for their support, drop off Hershey’s “gold nuggets” and take photos inside the restaurants with Hardee’s team members.
“It was so much fun to visit the stores and see how kind the Hardee’s employees were and how supportive they are of Special Olympics,” said Emily Bower, athlete, Global Messenger and a member of the Special Olympics Virginia staff.

From now through the end of December, Hardee’s locations across the Commonwealth will invite customers to “round up” in support of Special Olympics Virginia. Customers can support the campaign inside any of their 179 locations in Virginia, or in the restaurant drive-thrus.

No matter how you make “change,” every penny counts. In fact, in 2020 customers across the country donated more than $605 million during round-up campaigns for a variety of charities. Round-up campaigns also helped to offset nationwide coin shortages.

This will be the 41st year that Boddie-Noell Enterprises, the largest Hardee’s franchise operator in the United States, has partnered with Special Olympics Virginia, contributing in excess of $1.9 million to the organization during that time.
