One year ago, we were gathered in Stafford for Basketball Championships. If you close your eyes, you can probably hear the swoosh of a nothing-but-net shot, the squeak of tennis shoes on the courts, the clapping of cheering fans.
Events like Basketball Championships and our current Winter Combine are made possible thanks to partners like Stafford Tourism. In fact, Stafford has been home to Basketball Championships for more than 25 years.
"Stafford Tourism has become an integral part of the Special Olympics Virginia family," said President Rick Jeffrey. "We believe that the experiences Stafford Tourism helps Special Olympics Virginia create can change not only the lives of our athletes and their family members, but can also change the attitudes of an entire community about the value of a person with an intellectual disability. Stafford County is like an open door; one that we are always proud to walk through."
The partnership was a perfect fit for Stafford Tourism, too.
“We are grateful to have such a long lasting and energetic partnership with Special Olympics Virginia,” stated Lisa Logan, Tourism Manager for Stafford County Economic Development & Tourism. “We are humbled to host and support an inclusive event, bringing athletes and families from around the state to explore the Stafford region.”
