Owens & Minor Delivers Value and Support Since 1997

The global healthcare solutions company founded and headquartered in Richmond, Virginia has supported Special Olympics Virginia for 14 years, donating nearly $200,000

Through its global healthcare network that incorporates product manufacturing, distribution support and innovative technology services, Owens & Minor helps empower healthcare providers to take care of their patients – and they are empowering our athletes as well. Owens & Minor has been a longtime supporter of Special Olympics Virginia, donating nearly $200,000 in the last 14 years, plus hundreds of volunteer hours.

We believe empowerment is our core responsibility, but it does not end with just providing medical supplies. It extends to dedicating our time and talent to helping our local communities and partnering with trusted organizations such as the Special Olympics.

“Owens & Minor has been helping Special Olympics Virginia for years. Because of their support, we can provide critical healthcare to people with intellectual disabilities through our Healthy Athletes Program,” said David Pawlowski, Vice President of Sports, Health & Fitness. “Their funding along with their volunteerism have played an important part in improving the lives of Special Olympics Virginia athletes all over the state.”

Healthy Athletes not only provides important medical screenings and care for athletes, but also hands-on training for medical professionals in the community so they can work effectively with people with intellectual disabilities every day. The Owens & Minor team already is looking forward to volunteering at the Healthy Athletes clinics at Summer Games next June.

“For 140 years, Owens & Minor's core mission has been to empower our customers to advance healthcare and, by extension, protect our communities,” said Shana Neal, EVP, Chief Human Resources Officer and member of the O&M Foundation Board of Directors at Owens & Minor. “We believe empowerment is our core responsibility, but it does not end with just providing medical supplies. It extends to dedicating our time and talent to helping our local communities and partnering with trusted organizations such as the Special Olympics.” Originally founded in Richmond, Virginia in 1882, Owens & Minor employs more than 15,000 people in 70 countries.
