Annual Plane pull event raises $180,000 for Special Olympics Virginia

On October 19th, Dulles International Airport once again gave people the chance to head up to the tarmac and participate in the 2021 Dulles Plane Pull.

In the hours leading up to the pull, there was a hint of excitement and anticipation in the air, as everyone was waiting anxiously to start pulling planes again for the first time in over a year. But, when all was said and done, The Chesapeake Sherrif`s Department once again took home the top prize of the fastest pull with a time of 5.46, finishing ahead of the Fairfax County Police Department for the second straight time. CSD also took home the title of heaviest team, which was absolutely no surprise to anyone.

But it was all in good fun as over 30 teams came out to pull a Boeing 757 donated to SOVA by FedEx. Helping out all the teams was our athlete coaches, who kept the teams company while they were waiting for their turn to pull the plane. Even though, this year was a pull-only event, we hope to have our festival back next year for our 30th anniversary!
