Before the Summer Games even began, the Flame of Hope had already traveled thousands of miles.

The 2025 Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) season included local runs across Virginia, followed by an official kickoff on May 23 at the Keystone Antique Truck & Tractor Museum. There, Chesterfield County Sheriff and LETR State Chair Karl Leonard announced that law enforcement raised $1,962,629 over the past year to support Special Olympics Virginia athletes.

This season, 1,374 runners from 66 agencies covered more than 2,000 miles. Torch Run Week, the days leading into the Summer Games, brought the Flame through towns, cities, and communities across the Commonwealth.

On the Friday of the Games, representatives from multiple agencies ran the Final Mile into the University of Richmond. There, they lit the cauldron and officially opened the 2025 Summer Games.

Several agencies will continue to run through June, carrying the mission forward.

Congratulations to all the departments involved in this year's Torch Run. Your continued support makes a lasting difference.
