For Wawa, that means supporting the year-round initiatives of the Law Enforcement Torch Run along with our inspiring athletes. Special Olympics Virginia has been a grant recipient of the Wawa Foundation since 2015. We are thrilled to have once again received a $30,000 donation to support our Everyday Heroes. Special Olympics athletes and local law enforcement Torch Run members were invited to accept the giant check earlier this spring at Wawa’s latest store openings in Charlottesville, VA.
In addition to grant funding, we are also celebrating Wawa’s in-store campaign, held earlier this year in all 93 Wawa stores across the state. Customers were given the opportunity to make a donation, drop their spare change, or round-up their transaction to the nearest dollar, all to support Special Olympics Virginia’s 22,000+ athletes. In 2021, the cause campaign raised nearly $54,000.
These contributions were made to SOVA in addition to Wawa’s Polar Plunge event sponsorship support.
Whether it’s handing out hot cocoa to Plungers on the boardwalk, serving as a water stop for Torch Runners, or meeting some of Special Olympics Virginia’s most critical financial needs, we can always count on Wawa to be there for us. Thank you for being an extraordinary partner!
