Join us at the Opening Ceremony on Saturday, February 24th to celebrate and officially open the Games! Nearly 1,100 athletes, coaches, and volunteers will attend an Opening Ceremony that includes:
- Honor Guard
- Speeches to applaud athletes, coaches, and partners
- Special Thanks to event partners, including Knights of Columbus and the event presenting partner, GEICO
- Special Olympics Athlete Oath
- Lighting of the Flame of Hope
- Dance
Immediately following the Opening Ceremony, join the DJ on the dance floor to “cut a rug” and continue the celebration of the largest Special Olympics Virginia basketball event in history!
Pop-A-Shot Tournament
Immediately following the Opening Ceremony, athletes have an opportunity to participate in a Pop-A-Shot tournament, presented and led by ABLENow. All participants will get a shot to win a token mini basketball as the overall winner or runner-up!
