To me, Special Olympics is a safe place for expression. I love to play sports and Special Olympics allows me a space to focus on the fun and (to me) truly important aspects of a team sport: community, fun and supportiveness. Special Olympics is able to disengage from the toxic and overly-competitiveness I often find in other sports teams. The environment that our team develops allows me time to meet new people, exercise and exist in an encouraging environment.
