The 3-day tournament hosted at the Boar's Head Resort in Charlottesville is an annual event that was started to fulfill the dream of local Special Olympics athlete Jon Fried and his family. The dream was to bring together the best Special Olympics tennis players in the nation and provide them with a competitive experience right here in Charlottesville. The first Xperience Invitational took place in 2008.

This year's competition featured 33 inspiring athletes from 15 different state including Jon Friend and Chris Raupp from Virginia. Both Chris and John took home the gold in their respective divisions with the division 1A gold going to Special Olympics Florida's Ryan Smith in a hard fought battle with Rachel Sweatt from Special Olympics Arkansas.
