High school students across Virginia are invited to spend a day playing sports alongside current Special Olympics Virginia athletes, volunteers, and coaches on Saturday, May 23.
The main event is soccer, with matches alongside current athletes and volunteers. Not a soccer player? Other sports will be on the schedule too. You'll also hear directly from athletes about what competing looks like, from parents and volunteers about what showing up means, and from coaches about every sport Special Olympics Virginia offers in your area throughout the year.
This event came out of a February trip where four Special Olympics Virginia coaches trained with athletes and coaches from ISUPERABLI, Crazy for Football, and Centro Sportivo Italiano in Italy through a Sport for Social Change program. The idea they brought back was straightforward: get high school students on the field with Special Olympics Virginia athletes and see what happens next.
Surprise guests, games, snacks, drinks, and Special Olympics Virginia gear will be on hand. Registration is free.
