Young Athletes Curriculum

Week Six, Lesson Three

LESSON OVERVIEW

Opening Sports Song with Leapin' Lizards (2 min) – Get ready to move! Sing along and do the motions that accompany the song with Leapin' Lizard motions.

Side Striking (5 min) – Place the ball on a cone or another object. Using a sideways stance, strike the ball with the paddle.

Beginning Hockey (5 min) – Place the ball on the ground. Standing in a sideways stance, use the paddle to hit the ball.

Beginning Tennis/Softball (5 min) – Place the ball on a cone or another object. Stand sideways and hit the ball with the paddle.

Kicking (4 min) – In pairs, kick the ball to each other.

Obstacle Course (7 min) - Set up an obstacle course with floor markers for jumping on, cones to weave around and the balance beam/rope/floor tape to walk on before running to the finish line.

Closing Sports Song (2 min) – You did it! Sing along and do the motions that accompany the song.
