Owen is a Special Olympics Virginia athlete from Sandy Hook who competes in track and field events, including the 100-meter dash, 4x1 relay, and long jump. He has also played bocce, basketball, and bowling through Special Olympics and enjoys singing the National Anthem at events.Special Olympics has helped Owen build confidence, teamwork, and friendships. He’s most proud of helping his teammates overcome challenges and has traveled to other states to compete, including bowling in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Outside of sports, Owen enjoys computer games, playing his keyboard, swimming, biking, and helping with chores at home. He admires his coach, Steve, for his dedication to athletes and families.A 2023 Goochland High School graduate, he’s continuing his studies to earn a Teaching Assistant Certificate through the Woodrow Wilson Workforce program and hopes to work as a teacher’s aide at Goochland Elementary.
