Kevin Haynes is a Special Olympics Virginia volleyball athlete from Fredericksburg who has been involved since graduating high school. He first joined after being encouraged by his coach to try volleyball and has since also played soccer, basketball, and softball. Kevin, who is deaf, has overcome communication challenges through teamwork and support from his fellow athletes and coaches.He previously represented Virginia at the 2014 USA Games in New Jersey and is thrilled to return for the 2026 USA Games. Kevin loves meeting new people, cheering on other athletes, and celebrating every moment of competition. Outside of sports, he enjoys movies, cooking—especially desserts—and following baseball and football. His favorite athlete, Tom Brady, inspires him to stay active, positive, and determined to accomplish anything he sets his mind to. Through Special Olympics, Kevin has built lasting friendships, boosted his confidence, and learned the power of acceptance and perseverance.
