Kaitlin Dykes

Special Olympics Virginia Athlete

Kaitlin Dykes, a Special Olympics Virginia athlete and member of the Chesapeake Sheriff’s Office Elite Unit, has been actively involved with the movement for more than a decade. She first joined Special Olympics 12 years ago through softball and quickly found a passion that keeps her coming back year after year.

Kaitlin became involved with the Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) during COVID, participating in virtual runs before joining in-person efforts with Chesapeake beginning in 2022 and supporting Norfolk as well. In just a few years, she has embraced the LETR community and the opportunity to run alongside law enforcement officers across Hampton Roads.

Among her many Special Olympics memories, being named Athlete of the Year stands out as a special highlight. Kaitlin values the friendships and experiences she’s gained through both Special Olympics and LETR and is grateful for the opportunity to work alongside and celebrate Virginia’s law enforcement community.
