Heather heads to Minnesota this June as a member of Team Virginia’s swimming team at the 2026 USA Games. Heather has been involved with Special Olympics since 2016 after joining her local YMCA swim team and quickly found a passion for sports and helping others. Within four years, she became the junior coach for the swim team and has worked closely with athletes of all abilities, including assisting swimmers with visual impairments. In addition to swimming, Heather also participates in basketball and serves as a role model for younger athletes through her leadership, confidence, and determination. Special Olympics has helped bring Heather out of her shell, giving her opportunities to build friendships, gain employment, and inspire others through sports and wellness. Heather currently works at the King George YMCA as a wellness attendant and looks forward to competing, meeting new people, and representing Team Virginia at the USA Games.
