Athlete Registration Portal

Every individual with an intellectual disability participating as an athlete needs to complete or update the Athlete Registration form annually.

An athlete age 18 or older with the capacity to sign legal documents may complete their own form or a parent/guardian with the capacity to sign legal documents on behalf of the athlete must complete the form.

You will receive an email from athletes@specialolympicsva.org inviting you to access the portal and create an account. Each account is tied to a unique username, but you may use the same email for multiple accounts if necessary.

You will need a unique username for each participant, however, you can use the same email address for multiple athletes if needed. The username must look like an email address but you may add things to that username that will make it unique for each athlete. Example: john@gmail.com.dave for the first athlete and john@gmail.com.steve for the second. Best practice would be to securely keep a list of your user names if you are registering or updating more than one athlete.

The athlete and parent/guardian on file will receive an email notifying them that the athlete’s form will expire in 30 days. Athletes and their families should register during this period.

When you go into the athlete’s account to renew their form, all of the information from the previous form will be pre-filled. You can make any necessary updates, sign and date the form.

You can access the Athlete Registration Form at any time to make necessary updates. The athlete’s eligibility date will be one year from the date of any submitted updates.
