Erica Scearce

Probation Officer - United States Federal Courts

Erica has been active with the Torch Run and Special Olympics on the local, state and regional level for the past eight years. Never missing a year, she has faithfully run the local leg of her Torch Run, as well as the Final Leg in Richmond, and has never missed an opportunity to attend kick-off ceremonies, or jump in the ocean at the annual Polar Plunge in Virginia Beach. Erica has also proven her recruiting ability by recruiting fellow co-workers in their office, as well as making connections with other local partnering agencies, to run in their local Torch Run leg, or engage with athletes each year at the Polar Plunge. She has proven to be an inspiration to everyone: the athletes, fellow co-workers, their family, and anyone else they come in contact with.

No one knows this better, than the fellow members of her Plunge team, True Blue. Erica’s interest and passion for the Law Enforcement Torch Run actually started years ago, with the Virginia Beach Polar Plunge, where she shows up in costume to plunge with her team, sometimes jumping into the water not once, but twice!!... And then participating in the boardwalk fun run. Simply put, she has been an ambassador for fundraising every year as a proud member of team True Blue.

Without a doubt, this proud new mom is definitely enjoying motherhood, as she recently welcomed into the world her first child. But even so, neither that, nor a world-wide pandemic is slowing her down, as she still found the time to do the Virtual Polar Plunge this year on team True Blue, to continue helping to do her part for Special Olympics Virginia and the Law Enforcement Torch Run.

Congratulations, Officer Scearce!
