Akhilesh is a Special Olympics Virginia athlete from Ashburn who competes in swimming and has been involved with Special Olympics since 2020; he also was a member of his high school swim team. He says the Special Olympics has changed his life by helping him meet new people and reconnect with childhood friends. Akhil currently trains five days a week and is most proud of improving his swim times. As he prepares for the 2026 USA Games, he hopes to continue dropping time in the pool. Outside of sports, he works as an Instacart delivery driver, attends Northern Virginia Community College part time, and enjoys playing video games and using his computer.
