SOVA's Athlete of the Week for
July 14, 2003

Name: Michael Wiseman

Hometown: Ft. Defiance

Age: 20 years old

Number of yrs in Special Olympics: 11 yrs

Special Olympics Sports: Michael is a member of the half-court basketball, golf and softball skills teams. In the past, he also participated in swimming, roller-skating, power lifting, bowling and gymnastics.

Interests & Hobbies: Michael loves to go camping and fishing. He won “The Biggest Fish” trophy at last years’ Eagle’s fishing tournament in May. He also loves music. He is trying to learn how to play the guitar. Michael loves to watch wresting on TV.

Education: Michael plans to graduate from Fort Defiance High School this year.

Job: Michael has tried is hand at washing dishes at the school. This year, he is helping keep the school clean half of the day and going to classes the other half. Last summer he worked for the summer youth program.

What has SOVA done for you?
“Special Olympics has taught me patience and responsibility. I found out that it’s fun to win, but it’s also okay to lose as long as you gave it your best, along with your teammates. And you can be happy and proud of yourself for that".
