Special Olympics Virginia holds five state-level competitions, 2,400 local and regional competitions and nearly 50 special events and fund raisers annually. The public is welcome to attend any of our events.

The Special Olympics Experience at the Boar’s Head
Jan. 15-17, 2009 @ The Boar’s Head Inn in Charlottesville
This tennis match invitational, which features competitive and interactive events at a world class venue, will pair athletes from across the United States, and possibly an international team. Athletes will compete throughout the weekend, which also features a clinic with the University of Virginia’s men and women’s tennis teams and an opportunity for members of the local community to come in and play tennis with our athletes. Winter Championships
Jan. 9-10, 2009 in Northern Virginia (locations to be determined)
Come "be a fan in the stands" when more than 400 Special Olympics Virginia athletes go for the gold in bowling, figure skating, speed skating (ice) and gymnastics! Stay tuned for more details on this event, which is presented by Booz Allen Hamilton
Alpine Skiing Championships
Jan. 26-27, 2009 @ Wintergreen Resort
Bring your winter coat and cheer on more than 100 Special Olympics Virginia athletes when they compete in beginner, intermediate and advanced-level skiing competitions at Wintergreen. This event is presented by Wintergreen Resort.
Basketball Championships
March 20-21, 2009 in Stafford
Celebrate March Madness when more than 600 Special Olympics Virginia athletes from across the state compete in basketball skills and full court and half court basketball competitions at several Stafford high and middle schools. The event kicks off with the GEICO All-Star Friday Night Opening Ceremony, featuring a series of basketball skills contests for athletes and coaches, and performances by the Area 11 Special Olympics Virginia Cheerleaders.
Summer Games
June 12-14 in Richmond
Volunteer to Cheer at Special Olympics Virginia’s largest state-level event! More than 1,200 Special Olympics Virginia athletes from across the state will go for the gold in powerlifting, track & field, tennis, softball, swimming and bowling.
