Athlete of the Week
Ozyjowski named Athlete of the Week for August 18, 2003

Name: John Ozyjowski

Age: 38 years old

Hometown: Waynesboro, Virginia

Number of yrs in Special Olympics: 30 years. John joined the Special Olympic family at the age of 8-years-old in New Jersey. In 1984, he moved to Virginia, where he has been ever since.

Special Olympics Sports: Like his best friend Dottie Baker, John is an athlete of SOVA. He plays soccer, half-court basketball, runs track and is a member of an Adult Bowling team.

 

Major Accomplishments: John has shown his abilities in his competitions in the Richmond, Virginia Beach and Fredericksburg areas of Virginia.

Medals: He has been in for 30 years. John has lost count of the numerous medals, ribbons and trophies. “His room is filled with them,” said his mother.

Interests: John loves watching his afternoon soap operas. He also enjoys listening to music, dancing and taking pictures. He also enjoys hanging out with his friend Dottie.

Extra Activities: Special Olympics! Special Olympics! Special Olympics!
He spends most of his time participating in SOVA.

Education Status: John is a 1987 graduate of Wilson Memorial High School.

What has SOVA given you? Special Olympics has given John direction, a great sense of achievement and discipline. It has also given him a wonderful opportunity to travel with his friends all over the state.
