SOVA's Athlete of the Week for
December 9, 2002

Name: Joe Arnold

Hometown: Charlottesville

Age: 17-years old

Number of years in Special Olympics: 9 years

Special Olympics Sports: Soccer, Bowling, Basketball, Track and Field

Joe Arnold

Special Olympics accomplishments: Joe won a Gold medal in the 100 M run and a Silver medal in the 200 M run at the 2002 Summer Games in Richmond and his soccer team won a Silver medal at the 2002 Fall Games in Virginia Beach.

School: Joe is a Junior at Albemarle High School, where he is an Honor Roll student. He especially enjoys his early morning weight lifting class.

Other Interests: Joe has also participated in Little League Baseball's Challenger Division for 9 years, where he usually plays shortstop. He likes to help his Dad coach one of the younger teams. He is a proud Uncle for two nephews and one niece.
