14th Annual Polar Plunge Winter Festival Feb. 4 in Virginia Beach

Special Olympics Virginia is preparing for a record 3,000 thrill-seekers who will be braving the chilly Atlantic Ocean wearing nothing but swimsuits or costumes at its 14th Annual Polar Plunge Winter Festival on Saturday, February 4th, 2006 between 6th and 8th streets at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront.

With a record number of plungers, the event’s beneficiary Special Olympics Virginia hopes to raise a record amount. Since 1993 almost 14,000 plungers have raised more than $2 million for Special Olympics Virginia. The gates to the Winter Festival on the beach will open at 10:00 am, with the PLUNGE presented by Cox Communications and The Fox 106.9 FM. will take place at 2:30pm.
