14^th Annual Polar Plunge Winter Festival Feb. 4 in Virginia Beach

Special Olympics Virginia is preparing for a record 3,000 thrill-seekers who will be braving the chilly Atlantic Ocean wearing nothing but swimsuits or costumes at its 14^th Annual Polar Plunge Winter Festival on Saturday, February 4^th, 2006 between 6^th and 8^th streets at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront.

With a record number of plungers, the event’s beneficiary Special Olympics Virginia hopes to raise a record amount. Since 1993 almost 14,000 plungers have raised more than $2 million for Special Olympics Virginia. The gates to the Winter Festival on the beach will open at 10:00 am, with the PLUNGE presented by Cox Communications and The Fox 106.9 FM. will take place at 2:30pm.
