World & National Games

The Special Olympics World Games are one of the world’s largest sporting events, celebrating the achievements of Special Olympics athletes from around the globe.

Every two years, since 1968, athletes from more than 100 nations gather to showcase their athletic skills and bring the spirit of Special Olympics to life. Alternating between summer and winter, the Special Olympics World Games feature intense athletic competition and inspiring performances from talented Special Olympics athletes.

As with all Special Olympics events, the Special Olympics World Games are offered free of charge to all selected athletes thanks to the generous support of our Special Olympics friends and corporate sponsors.
