Volunteer Eligibility PolicyThis excerpt from Special Olympic Virginia’s Policy Manual outlines our volunteer eligibility requirements. Our minimum age requirement for volunteers depends on the nature of the volunteer's responsibilities. Generally, volunteers must be at least 14 years old to volunteer by themselves, or 8 years old to volunteer with a parent, guardian or chaperone.

Protective Behaviors Training
This required training gives Class A volunteers guidance on how to treat athletes respectfully and how to identify potential signs of abuse.

Class A Minor (Under 18) Volunteer Form
This form must be completed by minors volunteering as assistant coaches, unified partners or Area Council members and must be signed by the minor and his/her parent or guardian. The second portion of this form must be completed by two non-family references

Class B Volunteer FormThis form must be completed by volunteers who are helping at a one-day event. If the volunteer is a minor, the form must be signed by the minor and his/her parent or guardian.
