Over the Edge

On October 9 & 10 fans of Special Olympics Virginia participated in the tallest fundraiser the Commonwealth has ever seen, Over the Edge. 50 fearless individuals, media personalities, and local “bosses” bravely rappelled more than 25 stories (almost 400 feet!) from the roof of the SunTrust Center (in Richmond) to the sidewalk below.

Individuals raised $1,500 for the opportunity to rappel and several local businesses got to “toss their bosses” by raising $3,000. The top fundraiser, Lauren Nobles with the Henrico Police Department, brought in close to $2,500 for Special Olympics Virginia. Ironworks and Farm Bureau both raised more than $5,500 to toss their bosses.

Overall, Over the Edge raised $60,000 for Special Olympics Virginia programs. For information about next year’s event stay tuned to www.overtheedgeva.com or follow us on Twitter @OverTheEdgeVA.
