Volunteer to Cheer at the 2010 Fall Championships“Volunteer to Cheer” at Special Olympic Virginia’s second largest statewide competition, Fall Championships in Virginia Beach. This Nov. 6-7, more than 800 athletes from across the Commonwealth will go for the gold in bowling, soccer, volleyball, golf, bocce and roller skating. And we need you to fill the stands with your enthusiasm, because it’s truly not as special without the fans.

Team Virginia Brings Home Gold, Silver and Bronze from 2010 National GamesSpecial Olympics Team Virginia has returned victorious from the 2010 Special Olympics National Games, which took place July 18-23 at the University of Nebraska. Team Virginia took home a combined total of 18 gold medals, 18 silver medals and 12 bronze medals.

Lighting the Way for Special Olympics: the Flame's 1900-Mile JourneyIt’s traveled more than 1,900 miles. More than 2,000 officers and many Special Olympics athletes have held it high as they proudly ran through dozens of cities and towns this past week. Friday, June 11, at the Summer Games Opening Ceremony, the “Guardians of the Flame” presented the torch to Special Olympics athlete Nicole Cooke, who officially lit the Olympic Cauldron to open the Summer Games.
