Special Olympics Northern Virginia kicked-off the “Toss Your Boss” fundraising campaign April 19 in Northern Virginia when they encouraged area business leaders to sign up to rappel 15 stories at the Hilton Crystal City in Va. on June 22 in an effort to meet the chapter’s $100,000 fundraising goal. Seventy-five rappel slots are available for local leaders, seven of which are currently slated for executives from Hilton Worldwide, Safeway, Police Department and Slapshot, Mascot for the Washington Capitals and Special Olympics Global Messenger and award-winning athlete Rose Pleskow.
“I’m excited to be part of the inaugural rappel event,” said Paul Brown, president, brands and commercial services, Hilton Worldwide. “We have a global partnership with Special Olympics International and are proud to sponsor the 2013 Special Olympics World Winter Games in Korea. We look forward to supporting the organization locally as well.”
“This event in the past has enabled us to partner with organizations that are passionate about their communities, generate awareness among individuals who support our mission and raise money to provide resources and programs for our athletes,” said Rick Jeffrey, president, Special Olympics Virginia.
