Wawa, a longtime corporate sponsor of Special Olympics Virginia, presented the charity with $72,364 dollars yesterday. The funds represent proceeds from two in-store fundraising campaigns conducted in the first quarter of this year.
Yesterday’s three 10-year store anniversary events in Chester, Petersburg and Williamsburg celebrated Wawa’s employees, customers and community partners.
The family reunion theme became reality as attendees shared connections between the retailer and the charity. Upon seeing the donation presentation in Petersburg, one customer shared that his daughter was an athlete in the local Special Olympics program.
In Williamsburg, Special Olympics athlete Gavin and his sister Chloë (pictured right), participated in the in-store party that concluded with a 40 person conga line through the store!
