Special Olympics Virginia: Our Mission & Purpose
Mission: Special Olympics provides year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.Purpose: By using sport as a vehicle for social change, Special Olympics Virginia strives to create opportunities for meaningful interaction and self-discovery for everyone. The organization's goal is to reveal everyone’s inner champion. Special Olympics Virginia Inc. is the state program of Special Olympics Incorporated.
