Special Olympics Virginia Global Messenger named to the 2006 Virginia Board for People with Disabilities
The Virginia Board for People with Disabilities announced that Special Olympics Virginia Global Messenger William Crockett has been selected to the 2006 Youth Leadership Forum (YLF). Twenty-five rising high school juniors and seniors with disabilities from across Virginia will attend this year’s Forum, to be held at Christopher Newport University in Newport News, Virginia, from July 10 through July 14.
The YLF Delegates were selected through a competitive application and interview process. As participants in the YLF, Delegates will build self-confidence and leadership skills, learn how to become more involved in their schools and communities, and receive guidance in setting and pursuing their own career and higher education goals.
The 2006 YLF graduates will join more than 130 highly motivated and talented young adults from the Board’s six previous YLF programs whose experiences as Delegates have made a difference in their communities and their lives.
